I’m sure none of us started our Virtual Assistant businesses to become influencers.
(Okay, maybe one or two of you secretly did and if that’s your vibe, go for it! 😎 But for the rest of us? Not so much)
We started our VA journeys for freedom, flexibility, and to actually do the work – not spend hours trying to go viral on TikTok.
But… the truth is; in order to get the work, people need to know you exist. And where are those people hanging out? Other than on needava.co.uk !!
You don’t have to be everywhere. You don’t have to dance. And you definitely don’t need to post every single day to be consistent and visible.
You just need to be strategic. And show up in a way that feels mostly comfortable.
So, which platform should you be on?
Instagram – My Happy Place
I love Instagram. It’s visual, creative, and gives me a space to show personality without having to type essays. Stories? Brilliant for showing behind-the-scenes. Reels? I do them sometimes (with a deep breath and a “why not” attitude). And carousels? Perfect for sharing value.
Facebook – I Like It…
It’s less about algorithms and more about connection. It’s great for groups, community, and having actual conversations with humans. Plus, loads of small business owners still hang out there – especially in local groups or networking communities.
Don’t underestimate the power of a well-placed intro post in a Facebook group!
LinkedIn – The Place I Know I Should Be (Even if I Don’t Like It)
I hate LinkedIn. But I show up there because I know it’s where decision-makers are. People on LinkedIn expect to hear from service providers like VAs and they’re often ready to invest.
So, I post. I comment. I engage. And even though it’s not my favourite, it works…. ish
My Advice – Pick Where You’re Comfortable – and Stay Consistent
You don’t have to be on all platforms at once. (You really don’t.) Start where you feel comfortable. Show up your way. And once that feels easy, maybe try another.
Because this business is yours. You didn’t leave employment to work 12 hours a day trying to master the TikTok algorithm or go viral with a Canva carousel. You started this so you could work flexibly, support clients brilliantly, and have a life outside your laptop.
BUT – visibility still matters.
And that’s where consistency comes in. Wherever you decide to post, showing up regularly will build trust, recognition, and opportunities.
I’ve even created a Free How to guide to schedule your posts – that’s how I do it.

And if you want an extra visibility boost? Let the directory do the work for you.
Need A VA is like your 24/7 networking tool. You upload your profile, keep it updated, and let potential clients come to you, while you get on with literally anything else.
Consistency there matters too. Your profile is searchable, scannable, and all about showing off your strengths in a space designed just for VAs. 👉 https://needava.co.uk/add-a-listing/
